This Bail Bonds Division is responsible for the licensing and regulation of bail bondsmen as set forth in Title 59 of the Oklahoma State Statutes.

Claims/Consumer Assistance Division (405) 521-2991
Consumer Assistance investigates all complaints lodged against insurance companies by the public. This division also answers all routine requests for information concerning insurance companies and insurance policies.

Working to increase awareness and enhance the image of the Oklahoma Insurance Department, the Communications Division develops information about insurance and related issues to share with consumers, agents, companies, lawmakers and the media through news releases, continuing education seminars and conferences, and OID-hosted events.

The Comptroller Division is in charge of the internal fiscal affairs of the Insurance Department, including preparation of payroll, purchasing of equipment and maintaining fiscal records as required by law.

Continuing Education manages all aspects of the continuing education process for Oklahoma's licensed producer and adjuster population.

All payroll and human resource functions for the agency including hiring, promoting and terminating staff; coordinating employees benefits, such as insurance, retirement and leave; and maintaining personnel and payroll information is performed by the Human Resources Division.

IT provides all internal data processing services to the other divisions of the Oklahoma Insurance Department. It also provides the public with both summary and detailed information from many of the records maintained by this office.

The Financial Division determines whether insurance companies applying for admission to do business in the state of Oklahoma meet the qualifications for admittance as set forth by law. This division, through outside examiners, conducts the statutory examination of all domestic insurance companies in the state of Oklahoma and collects all premium taxes and statutory fees due to the state.

The Director of Government Affairs is responsible for the development, coordination and communication of legislative issues for the Oklahoma Insurance Department. In this role, the director prepares and presents legislative and budget priorities to the Oklahoma Legislature. He is also responsible for establishing and maintaining contacts on legislative matters with Oklahoma Legislature and other state and federal agencies. The director communicates with legislative members and their staffs on administrative and policy matters affecting the scope of insurance programs and activities of OID and maintains a general oversight role in relation to legislative activities throughout OID.

OID's Anti-Fraud Unit is responsible for investigating complaints against licensed insurance entities. If evidence of wrongdoing or non-compliance with the insurance laws is found, the information is forwarded to the Legal Division.

The General Counsel represents the public interest in all proceedings held before the Insurance Commissioner, including complaints and disciplinary and investigative hearings. The Legal Division represents the Insurance Commissioner in the courts and advises all department divisions in legal matters. It also investigates allegations on the part of insurance companies, agents, adjusters, bail bondsmen and other licensees under the jurisdiction of the Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner, with particular emphasis on assisting and protecting consumers.

Producers Licensing Division (405) 521-3916
Producers Licensing is responsible for the licensing of resident and non-resident agents and adjusters who desire to do business in Oklahoma. The division determines whether applicants for licenses meet the qualifications set forth in the statutes of the state of Oklahoma and for administering the examinations to all agents and adjusters. This division also maintains the Producers Licensing file room for the Department.

Rate and Form Filing Division: Life, Accident & Health (405) 521-3541

The Rate and Form Compliance Division approves life, accident, health, property, marine, vehicle and casualty insurance products. The division’s primary responsibility is the review of policy forms and rates to ensure compliance with Oklahoma statutes and regulations. This unit also regulates health plan utilization review organizations, advisory organizations and joint underwriting associations.

The Real Estate Appraiser Board determines whether applicants for real estate appraiser licensure-certification meet the qualifications set forth in the statutes of the state of Oklahoma and administers the examinations given to all real estate appraisers with regard to performing appraisals in federal related transactions.

This division provides education and counseling services for senior citizens regarding their insurance needs, as pertains to private health insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. It coordinates a statewide training program for volunteers who wish to counsel seniors regarding their insurance.

SMP is a Medicare/Medicaid fraud, abuse, and waste reduction program designed to recruit and train retired professionals to educate Medicare/Medicaid beneficiaries, their families and caregivers how to monitor what is paid on their behalf and what to do about identified discrepancies. SMP also promotes better communication techniques between Medicare/ Medicaid beneficiaries and their providers.

Title Licensing determines whether applicants for title agent licensure meet the qualifications set forth in the statutes of the state. It is also responsible for developing the required examination given to applicants, issuing renewal licenses, investigating complaints lodged against title companies and title agents by the public, and conducting examinations of title insurance companies and agents.
