Special Excepted Appointment (SEA) Project

A Program to hire People with Disabilities

People with disabilities may obtain employment with the Federal government through a number of avenues including the Special Excepted Appointment Project which was developed to provide an alternate route to employment for people with severe disabilities.

To qualify for an excepted appointment you must meet certain criteria:

Have the basic knowledge, skills and abilities for the job and be able to perform the duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Have an impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities; have a record of such an impairment; or regarded as having such an impairment.
Have a state vocational rehabilitation counselor or visual services counselor certify that you have the ability to do the job and do it without risk to yourself or others. The certification must be supported by medical documentation regarding the severity of your disability.
WORKFORCE OKLAHOMA Centers and Federal agencies in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan area are working together to create a pool of Federal job applicants. When an individual with a disability makes application at one of the Workforce Oklahoma offices, their federal job application can be considered by all agencies participating in the SEA project. Ask your Workforce Representative at any WORKFORCE OKLAHOMA Center for a SEA application packet.
