Counterfeit Check Scam Notice

Recently members of the public have reported to the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (“OESC”) that they received a counterfeit check that appeared to be from the OESC. These checks are being sent to these individuals for the purchase of merchandise. They are not counterfeit unemployment checks. If you have received an unexpected or unexplained check from the OESC and want to validate the check, please fax a copy of the check and any accompanying documents to (405) 557-7271. Please include your telephone number with the faxed material, so an OESC representative can contact you. If you do not have access to a fax machine or have a question regarding an OESC check, please call (405) 557-7143. OESC will report any counterfeit checks to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
