PEOSH Unit

The Public Employee Occupational Safety & Health Unit (PEOSH) is responsible for consultation, inspection, compliance, rule making, education and training activities involving occupational safety and health for all public employees in Oklahoma, including city, county, state, schools and municipal trusts. These public entities are not included within the jurisdiction of federal OSHA.

Targeted Public Employers

Public employers above the state average incident rate are targeted for PEOSH inspection. The average incident rate is 5.43 per 100 workers (2007 data).
An incident rate is defined as the number of recordable injuries and illnesses occurring among a given number of full-time workers (usually 100 full-time workers) over a given period of time (usually one year).
