Mark Costello was elected state labor commissioner on November 2, 2010. He achieved a historic margin with winning 64% of the vote in his victory over an incumbent office holder. Mark is an experienced business man. He founded AMCAT, a telephone software company in 1984 employing over 100 employees. Since selling AMCAT in 2000, Mark founded several technology companies. He has taken a sabbatical from his businesses to be an active Labor Commissioner.
Mark has kept his promises to bring a business approach to managing the Labor Department and to date has saved well over $500,000 in tax dollars while increasing efficiency, even turning back a portion of his own salary and using his personal vehicle rather than the allowed state car. He will continue to utilize his private sector business experience to deploy existing resources to better aid Oklahoma job producers.
Mark is a fourth generation Oklahoman born in Bartlesville. Mark has been married to Cathy for 30 years; together they are raising their 5 children in Edmond, Oklahoma.
