Behavioral Health Case Management Exam FAQ's

 

 1. I do not have my letter that I need to take my exam, will you fax it to me?

• No, this letter cannot be faxed. Applicants are required to print their exam letter from a secure email and to take their letter to the exam site. Exam letters are always sent via email. 
• We will only re-send original letters via email to the email address that was originally provided to us with your application.

 2. How do I schedule my exam for Case Management?

• Once your application has been approved, the applicant must visit the Exam Site Information and review the choices.  Contact a person at the exam site where you would like to take your exam. 
• Applicants must pay the exam fee directly to the CareerTech where you take your exam. Applicants should contact the
Exam Site to find out what forms of payment are accepted by the facility.

3. If an applicant took the wrong exam, how can they correct the problem?

• Applicants are welcome to contact the exam center to reschedule their exam.  Applicants will be responsible for any fees associated with re-taking their exam.

4. I am a licensed professional and I have taken Exam 2.01.  Why haven't I received my certificate?

• Applicants approved for CM Level III are required to take the 3.01 Exam.  If the error was made by the applicant or the testing center, the applicant is required to pay for retaking the correct exam.
• Applicants have the option to attend the second day of training and become certified as a CM II.
• Applicants will receive their certificate after completing one of these options.

 5. I am a Case Management I or Case Management II and I took Exam 2.01.  Do I still need to attend the training class?

• Yes. Applicants are still required to attend the training at the time indicated on the initial application in accordance with our Chapter 50 Standards.

 6. I need my Exam Letter to test.  When and where did you send my Exam Letter?

• Exam Letters are sent via secure email the same day they are approved.  The Exam Letter was sent to the email address that the applicant provided on the original application. 
• If the applicant's contact information has changed, the applicant is required to log back into
Case Management Access Control and update their information. 

7. What do I need to study for the exam?

• The study materials are located under Exam Materials.  

8. I was approved to take the exam, but I have changed jobs and did not take the exam.  What do I do?

• Applicants can still use the same letter to take the exam if it has been less the six (6) months since you completed your online application. Once you have completed your on-line application, you only have 6 months to complete the application process before your application expires.
• If the applicant's contact information has changed, the applicant is required to log back into
Case Management Access Control and update their information.  

9. Where do you offer a free exam?

• There are no free exams offered at this time.

10. I am a state employee.  Do I have to pay for the exam at the CareerTech site?

• Yes, everyone who takes the exam at any of the CareerTech sites is required to pay to take the exam.

11. Will I be reimbursed for the $25.00 fee if I take the exam at the CareerTech site?

•ODMHSAS Case Management will not reimburse individuals who take the exam at the CareerTech sites.

12. I did not pass my exam, how long do I have to wait until I can take the exam again?

• The waiting period is 7 days before the applicant is eligible to take the exam again.  You will also have to pay another $25.00 fee to take the exam again.

13.  Isn't there a Provisional Certification that I can use to bill for case management after I pass my exam?

• The is no longer a provisional certification period.  The case management applicant cannot bill for case management services until they have completed the training.
