Behavioral Health Case Management Certification Renewal FAQ's

 

 1. Can I submit partial renewal information each year?

• Applicants are required to submit complete renewal information annually from the year of issuance, unless revoked, in accordance with the Chapter 50 Standards.

 2. What is my renewal date?

• Each applicant should start to accumulate CEU's the following January of their initial year.
• The renewal date is always December 31 of the following year that the applicant originally received their certification and every year thereafter.

3. How do I become current if my certification has lapsed?

• A certification not renewed by the December 31 deadline will be suspended.  A suspended certification may be renewed by submitting required fees and documentation of continuing education within six (6) months of the expiration date.  Certificates not renewed within six (6) months will not be reinstated.
• A certification that was not renewed within the period provided and was not reinstated, must wait a period of sixty (60) days before reapplying and shall submit a new application.

4. How early can I send my renewal information?

• Renewals are accepted beginning October 1st and must be received in our office by December 31st.

5. How can I send my renewal information?

• Applicants will need follow the instructions on the Certification Renewal page.  

6. If I am late getting information in for renewal, can you back date my late renewal?

• Applicants renewal will be valid from the date it is approved.
• Certification will not be back dated on late renewals.

7. Can I still provide case management services until I complete my renewal?

• Applicants are only eligible to provide case management services when their certification is current.
• Applicants are not eligible to provide services when their certification is not current or suspended, pending completion of required renewal information.

8. Will the department make exceptions or allowances for not renewing on time?

• No. To provide case management services, certification must be current.

9. How do I obtain my renewal certificate?

• Case Management certificates are sent electronically by email to the applicants' attention at the email addresses listed in the database.
• It is the case manager's responsibility to keep their information up to date in the on-line system.  Information can be updated by logging in to
Case Management Access Control.
