Everyone needs help sometime. And when that moment comes, you want the process to be as simple as possible. The Department understands how difficult seeking mental health services for yourself or your loved one can be, and continuously strives to improve program accessibility. Our providers, whether state operated or contracted private non-profits, are commissioned to provide services that promote consumer empowerment, wellness, recovery, and integration in the community. Building on the individual’s strengths, mental health programs are designed to provide trauma-informed, gender sensitive, co-occurring, age appropriate and culturally competent treatment.
The mental health services available through the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) encompass a broad range of needs. Our Community Mental Health Centers (CMHCs) serve as the hub for the majority of our outpatient services, and are also often host sites for other specialized programs such as PACT. Residential care services, housing, and access to benefits are just some of the support services also provided through the ODMHSAS.
For individuals in need of crisis services, the ODMHSAS offers a continuum of services from emergency assessment, mobile crisis services, community based crisis stabilization units, to inpatient hospitalization, with the goal of assisting consumers to remain at the least restrictive level of care possible.
The Department also recognizes the value of interagency collaborations and community integration. Through our criminal justice programs, mental health court and CIT (crisis intervention team) officer trainer we attempt to encourage mental health awareness in the criminal justice system. Our Recovery Support Services and partnerships with local and state mental health consumer and family advocacy groups allows us to develop and empower consumer voice and choice.
Regardless of the mental health services you may be seeking for yourself or your loved one, the Department, providers, programs, and staff are here to be of service and assist you in discovering your personal Road to Recovery.
