Medical Observership
| |

At Griffin we wish to allow resident candidates, residents, or practicing physicians who are not enrolled in Griffin Memorial Hospital Residency Program to act in the capacity of an observer and shadow a faculty member for the purpose of observing the practice of psychiatry. Observership candidates see clinical care and attend lectures, research presentations or other academic activities. The observership will typically be for a one month period of time.
Cost of the Program
We will charge $400 USD per month of rotating at our site.
Prior to Arrival
The observer must provide the Program Director (psmelton@odmhsas.org) with their step score(s), educational history, one letter of recommendation from a physician and curriculum vitae. The observer must have passed Step 1 and 2. The Observer cannot have failed any step examination more than 2 times. Observer must have US citizenship or be a permanent citizen, we do not sponsor visas.
The Residency Coordinator Pam Melton will work with Human Resource Management to obtain an OSBI background check. If from out of State, the observer is responsible to obtain a home State background check and submit it to the Program Coordinator.
Upon Arrival
Upon the arrival of the observer the Program Coordinator will assure that all additional on site paperwork is completed. The Program Coordinator will then facilitate placement of the observer to the appropriate clinical site.

Clinical Sites
Griffin Memorial Hospital Residency Program currently maintains two clinical sites for observers. One is our inpatient unit, and the other is our outpatient adult facility at Central Oklahoma Community Mental Health Center.
