2Much2Lose: Casinos Don’t Gamble With Underage Alcohol Sales
ROCMND’s “2Much2Lose” team recently trained more than 400 Hard Rock Casino employees on the importance of Responsible Beverage Services and Sales (RBSS). Stacy Potter, ROCMND’s prevention program director, and Erik Smoot with the Alcoholic Beverage Sales Enforcement (ABLE) Commission held a successful RBSS training at the Tulsa casino and will be going back in six months to train new employees. ODMHSAS APPOINTS CHILDREN’S RECOVERY CENTER DIRECTOR
The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services has appointed long-time employee Teresa Capps to lead the agency’s Children’s Recovery Center in Norman. Capps has been serving as interim director for several months. Carrie Slatton-Hodges, ODMHSAS Deputy Commissioner for Recovery and Treatment Services, said Capps brings compassion, a wealth of knowledge and years of service to her new position. Read more..

ODMHSAS Employees Named Center for Juvenile Justice Reform Fellows
Two employees at the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services have been selected as Center for Juvenile Justice Reform (CJJR) Fellows. Teresa Croom, state project director for Oklahoma Systems of Care, and Lorrie Byrum, senior data analyst, were selected based on a project called “The Oklahoma Bridge to Independence Network,” which is a joint project with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, and the Office of Juvenile Affairs, designed to reduce the number of foster children who enter the juvenile and adult justice systems. Shawnee Youth Coalition Partnering With “Make a Stand!” Lemon-aid to Help Area Kids Recover From Devastation
(Shawnee, OK) The Shawnee Youth Coalition and “Make a Stand! Lemon-aid are teaming-up to offer area children, their friends and families a break from the devastation caused by recent storms. The two groups are offering Relief in the Park, a day of fun, at Shawnee’s Woodland Park, from noon to 3:00 p.m. on June 14th. Finding Meaning: The Art of Recovery
ODMHSAS, Thunderbird Clubhouse and Other Local Advocates Partner to Offer September Art Showing. The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, along with Thunderbird Clubhouse and other community advocates, is sponsoring an art show to celebrate recovery. The event will take place on Friday, Sept. 13, from 6-9 p.m. at Joy’s Palace, located at 300 E. Main Street in Norman. The event is free to the public. Read more..
