BEST Recognition Program

Building Excellent Services Together (BEST) is our aim at the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. We would like to know when an employee exemplifies this goal, and recognize them for outstanding effort. The BEST recognition program allows all ODMHSAS employees to chance to be recognized for their hard work. The nominations come from anyone that feels like an employee has done exemplary service. You can nominate by filling out the form located under "useful links", by filling out a BEST card (these are located at all of our facilities as well as at our Central Office and Shepherd Mall locations), by emailing your nomination, or by calling our toll free BEST hotline at 1-877-570-BEST. 

In addition to yearly recognition, every month specific nominees will be selected and will receive a BEST pin for their outstanding efforts. It is from these recipients that the yearly awards are chosen.

In order to receive a nomination for a BEST award, the nominee must present one or more of the following:

- Anticipate Customer Needs
- Appearance
- Be an Advocate in the Community
- Commitment to Co-workers
- Communication
- Compassion
- Courteous 
- Demonstrate Department Pride
- Display a Positive Outlook
- Etiquette
- Focus on Recovery
- Maintains a Safe and Comfortable Working Environment
- Respectful
- Seek to Understand
- Welcoming

2009 BEST Awards 

The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services recognized their 2009 “BEST” award winners at a March 26, 2010 board meeting.  The awards are part of an annual effort by the department to celebrate outstanding performance by agency employees.  Each year the following awards are presented to outstanding individuals: Customer Service Award; Award for Innovation, Quality Improvement and Productivity Enhancement; Facility Employee of the Year; Commissioner’s Award for Excellence; Central Office Employee of the Year; Excellence in Changing Attitudes Award; and, Good Samaritan Award.
