Oklahoma Nanotechnology Initiative (ONI)
The Oklahoma Nanotechnology Initiative is the focal point for information on nanotechnology in the state. OCAST contracts with The State Chamber of Oklahoma to manage the Oklahoma Nanotechnology Initiative (ONI).
The ONI’s objectives are to:
- Create statewide awareness of the emerging nanotechnology industry and its potential impact on the state.
- Promote Oklahoma and its resources as a valuable site for nanotechnology industry location.
- Serve as a clearinghouse of information on nanotechnology to the academic, financial, industrial, and business communities.
- Provide outreach and referral support to the Oklahoma Nanotechnology Applications Program (ONAP) which provides funding to assist Oklahoma companies to utilize nanotechnology to create new or improved commercial products.
The ONI annually hosts NanoFocus which is a conference featuring federal, state and local nanotechnology speakers while highlighting Oklahoma research in nanotechnology and shines a spotlight on Oklahoma companies who are successfully using nanotechnology to bring new or improved products to market
Speaking of Nano is a quarterly program of the ONI that provides information and networking for Oklahomans interested in nanotechnology. The ONI is available to do informational programs on nanotechnology to civic groups, chambers of commerce, school groups and public officials.
The ONI coordinates nano activities on a regional basis in a cooperative effort to enhance relationships with the adjacent states.
