OKGrants Overview
OCAST has partnered with the Office of State Finance and many other state agencies to develop a process by which Oklahoma universities, non-profit research organizations and private companies may apply for and manage research funding… all online at https://grants.ok.gov.
OCAST is working with Agate Software Inc., a software development company out of East Lansing, MI to develop and implement OKGrants, the electronic platform by which funding opportunities through participating state agencies may be accessed.
OKGrants will provide for:
- Electronic submission of proposals – clients will be able to complete the application online, attach files and obtain appropriate administrative approvals. Clients will no longer need to travel to the OKC or Tulsa office to hand deliver applications before the deadline. Instead, they may simply click a button from their home or office to submit their applications.
- Improved contract management – Progress reports can be submitted, forwarded to reviewers and evaluated online. Contract modifications can be submitted and processed, all online and in a much more efficient manner than the current paper process.
- Financial tracking – Clients may submit requests for payment, view the status of each request and track all payments made on their funded projects.
The end result of the implementation of OKGrants is a much more efficient, streamlined process by which clients can apply for and manage research projects. Additionally, OCAST is now better able to communicate with clients regarding award notifications and contract compliance.
Currently, the FY12 Plant Science funding cycle is managed entirely through OKGrants. The first OARS funding cycle of FY13 is currently under development and will go live in time for the opening of the FY13.1 solicitation in July. All remaining funding programs will be implemented by 2014.
