Prescription Drug Abuse Awareness Week
April 12-16, 2010
The following events and activities are co-sponsored by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN), National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators (NADDI), Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, Healthy Community Partnerships, and King Pharmaceuticals.
Monday - April 12th, 2010- 1:00 p.m.:
•Press Conference at 1:00 p.m. at the State Capitol Blue Room to launch “Prescription Drug Abuse Awareness Week”. Open to the public.
Tuesday - April 13th, 2010- 11:30- 1:00 p.m.:
•Invitation-only Legislator luncheon; “The State of Pharmaceutical Abuse in Oklahoma” and an interactive discussion with Michelle Lipinski, Principal of Northshore Recovery High School. This event will be held at the First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City located at 1201 N. Robinson in Oklahoma City and is sponsored by King Pharmaceuticals.
Wednesday - April 14th, 2010 – 11:30-1:00 p.m.:
•Networking luncheon, with law enforcement, treatment and community organizations, held at the First Christian Church, 3700 North Walker, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Open to the public. Please RSVP with Jerri Hill at OBN 1-800-522-8031
•State-wide prayer at 7:00 p.m. for individuals who are addicted to pharmaceuticals, investigate pharmaceutical abuse, and treat the individuals and families.
Thursday April 15th, 2010-1:00 p.m.:
•Student “DON’T SHARE PRESCRIPTION DRUGS” contest winners announced at the State Capitol Blue Room press event at 1:00 p.m. Open to the public.
Friday April 16th, 2010-13:30:
•Video teleconference for secondary school athletic directors and coaches on “The Use and Abuse of Steroids”. The video will be made available on the web for public viewing at a later date.
