MAJOR COCAINE SHIPMENT SEIZED IN MULTI-AGENCY INVESTIGATION
One of the largest cocaine shipments in Oklahoma history has been seized as part of a multi-agency, multi-state investigation. Mark Woodward, Spokesman for the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics says 43 kilos of cocaine was intercepted Tuesday, February 28th, 2006. According to Woodward, his agency and the Drug Enforcement Administration started working with authorities in New Mexico after receiving a tip that the drugs were heading to Oklahoma.
"New Mexico authorities alerted DEA and OBN that the shipment was on the way. We were able to work together to identify the people and vehicles involved which led us to the seizure Tuesday morning at a home in Oklahoma City."

Woodward says they believe part of the shipment was staying in Oklahoma while the remainder was destined for locations on the east coast. According to Woodward, the cocaine has a street value of nearly $800,000. OBN Agents also seized 50 pounds of marijuana in the shipment, valued at $75,000. Arrests have been made, but the names of the defendants are being withheld at this time due to the nature of the investigation.
