STATE NARCOTICS BUREAU REMAINS POLITICALLY NEUTRAL

"The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics has not and will not endorse any candidate for public office."

---Mark Woodward, OBN Spokesman

OBN is responding to a political ad on television and at least one web site that Woodward says associate the state drug agency with other law enforcement departments supporting a candidate for District Attorney in Oklahoma County.

"We've received calls throughout the day concerning a television ad and a web site listing the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics among a group of law enforcement departments endorsing David Prater for District Attorney. We want to make it clear to the public that this agency has not and will never endorse any candidates for public office."

---Mark Woodward, OBN Spokesman

Woodward says his agency strives to work closely with elected officials on the local, state and federal level to reduce the availability of drugs. And Woodward stresses that it is the strict policy of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics to remain neutral in all political elections.
