UNDERCOVER DRUG OPERATION NETS METH ARRESTS IN ENID

The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics announces the arrests of 3 Garfield County residents for trafficking methamphetamine. Agency Spokesman, Mark Woodward says the 3 were taken into custody on the evening of October 11, 2006 following an undercover sting operation.

"The defendants were under surveillance as they participated in deals involving large amounts of methamphetamine at an Enid motel. Following the exchanges, the suspects were all placed under arrest without incident."

The three defendants are identified as 63-year-old Archie Ben Rachel, 39-year-old Rita Colleen Alcorn, and 29-year-old Shawn Roy Frye. All three reside in Enid and face meth trafficking charges in Garfield County. Alcorn is also facing a charge of marijuana possession with intent to distribute. This comes on the heals of a similar operation in Shawnee last week. Woodward says additional arrests are expected as similar undercover sting operations continue around the state.

"While meth labs have been dramatically reduced, we are now focusing on those trafficking meth that is brought in from Mexico."

---Mark Woodward, OBN Spokesman

Woodward says Wednesday's sting operation was a joint investigation involving OBN and the Enid Police Department.
