NEW OBN DIRECTOR SELECTED
An 18-year veteran of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics is named Director today by the agency's board of commissioners, effective September 1, 2006. R. Darrell Weaver replaces Lonnie Wright who passed away April 27, 2006 from a heart attack.
Agent Weaver graduated from Cameron University in Lawton in the mid 1980's with a degree in accounting. After being hired by OBN in 1987, Weaver worked his way up through the ranks, having spent several years as an agent at the OBN District Offices in Lawton and Ardmore.
In 1995, Weaver was promoted to Agent-In-Charge of the agency's Enforcement Section at the OBN Headquarters in Oklahoma City. In that position, AIC Weaver supervised the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) statewide intelligence initiative that is instrumental in creating a drug threat assessment. Weaver also established an event deconfliction watch center utilized by Oklahoma law enforcement.
