Governor Mary Fallin Appoints Tommy Caldwell to Mining Commission

Governor Mary Fallin appointed Tommy Caldwell of Shady Point, Oklahoma to the unexpired position vacated by Commissioner Jan Kunze. Mr. Caldwell will serve as a member with a background in Public Utilities. The term expires on January 1, 2012. 

Mining Commissioner Jan Kunze Resigns

Commissioner Jan Kunze submitted her resignation from the Oklahoma Mining Commission to Governor Fallin. Ms. Kunze served on the Commission for 13 years, including one year as Vice Chair, and two years as Chair. The Department wishes her all the best in her future endeavors!

Mining Commissioner Tim Lochridge Reappointed

Congratulations to Commissioner Lochridge on the recent Senate confirmation of his reappointment to the Oklahoma Mining Commission for another seven year term. 

New Commissioners

The Oklahoma Mining Commission has had a chance in its membership. Commissioner Kris Kinder, whose term has expired, has been replaced by Tom Knight, a mining engineer from Edmond, Oklahoma. Mr. Knight will serve in the Labor/Workers' Safety position for a full seven-year term. In addition, Commissioner Bill Willis submitted his resignation. The Banking/Economic Development position will now be held by Jed Winters, president of Mangum Brick Company. Mr. Winters will serve the remainder of Commissioner Willis' term, until January 1, 2014. These gentlemen were approved by the Senate Energy and Environment Committee on May 13, 2010. Both new members plan to be at the June Mining Commission meeting in Wilburton. Please join us in welcoming Commissioner Knight and Commissioner Winters to the Oklahoma Mining Commission.
