OKLAHOMA'S MINERALS

The extraction or mining of minerals from the earth occurs in every county of the state. Minerals mined in Oklahoma include limestone, building stone, sand and gravel, gypsum, clay and shale, granite, volcanic ash, Tripoli, salt, bentonite, iron ore (not shown), and chat (not shown). Our Division regulates all mine sites within the State of Oklahoma with the exception of coal. The 2006/2007 Annual Report can be downloaded as a pdf file by clicking here.  The 2008/2009 Annual Report can be downloaded as a pdf file by clicking here.

This number is constantly changing as we receive new permits and permit revisions on a daily basis from the industry as well as companies applying for bond releases.  In addition, to the permitted mine sites our Division regulates, our mine inspectors must also follow up on all notifications from the Department of Transportation regarding possible borrow pit sites being utilized for government jobs.
