Volcanic Ash

Volcanic ash is composed of fine, un-cemented particles of volcanic dust that were deposited in lakes during pre-historic volcanic activity. These deposits occur in many western and central counties in Oklahoma. The material is primarily used for concrete mixtures, abrasives, and insulating compounds.  There was no mining in 2006-2007.
