Salt

Oklahoma's vast salt reserves underlie most of the northwestern portion of the state. Salt brine, dissolved from underground deposits by ground water, is brought to the surface either as natural springs or by pumping; the salt is recovered as a residue through solar evaporation of the brine. One small operation is located in Woods County. Salt is used primarily for stock feeds, recharging water softeners, and road de-icing.
