Reclamation Projects

Bond Forfeiture Reclamation

Alpine 4171
Project Location:  N/2 Sec. 23 T8N, R20E - Haskell County, OK
Completed:  April 2002

The erosion on the east side of the final pit impoundment (pre-reclamation photo) was regraded and filled with rock riprap to stabilize the area (post-reclamation photo).  Several erosions were filled, topsoil was redistributed, pond embankments were reshaped, a spillway was repaired, an exit channel was regraded to better handle the impoundment discharge and vegetation was established on the topsoil area.

Project Location: E/2 Sec. 13 T8N, R20E - W/2 Sec. 18 T8N, R21E - Haskell County, OK
Completed:  August 2002

The eroded gully (pre-reclamation) was shaped, filled and stabilized with rock riprap.  The gully drained into a final pit impoundment.  In total, 28 gullies were repaired, numerous sinkholes filled, a terrace repaired, several pond inlets received riprap, a road constructed and a 25-acre area was topsoiled and vegetated. (Please note that the pre-reclamation photo was taken with the view from the impoundment looking towards the gully.  The post-reclamation photo was taken with the view from the gully looking toward the impoundment).

Project Location:   S/2 Sec. 7 T24N, R17E Rogers County, Ok
Completed:               September 2003

The channel (pre-reclamation photo) was originally constructed to redirect a creek on the permit site.  However, the old channel that was abandoned when the new channel was constructed remained.  This reclamation project eliminated the newer channel and directed the water back into the old channel, as requested by the landowner.  This created additional grazing land for the property owner and restored the creek to resemble its original flow path.  The post-reclamation photo shows the backfilled channel. In addition, other erosional areas were regraded using in-situ material and then seeded for vegetation establishment.
