Mission Statement The Institute for Dispute Resolution offers dispute resolution education, training and research. IDR provides high quality, neutral dispute resolution services which relate to Oklahoma agriculture, rural living, agribusiness, the environment, natural resources, and rural business and industry. We encourage the use of interest-based negotiation and communication skills to help people talk about what really matters. How can we help you? Mediation is a voluntary process in which people involved in a dispute agree to meet in a confidential, non confrontational setting to attempt to work out a solution on their own. A mediator helps people discuss the disagreement and identify options that might resolve the problem. Mediators facilitate the discussion; they do not give legal advice or counseling and have no authority to decide the outcome. If an agreement is reached in mediation, the terms will be written down and signed by both parties. OAMP (Oklahoma Agricultural Mediation Program) is the USDA certified mediation provider for the State of Oklahoma. OAMP is a FREE service. OAMP is administered by IDR at Oklahoma State University. OAMP assists agricultural producers, their lenders, and other people who have received an adverse decision from the USDA. Authorized by the Agricultural Credit Act of 1987 and Oklahoma statutes, mediation is an effective way to settle disputes in many different USDA program areas, including farm loans and farm programs, and agricultural credit issues. OAMP can also assist rural Oklahomans with resolving a wide variety of issues that affect their daily lives. Facilitation Services* Facilitation is a process in which a professional neutral helps a group work together effectively. When groups or organizations need to meet to gather information from people with different interests the facilitator can help keep the meeting on track and ensure that all people have the opportunity to be heard. Facilitators can assist with public policy processes, strategic planning, meeting facilitation, and team/group problem solving and consensus building.
