The Lieutenant Governor’s Office of Constituent Services provides assistance to citizens with questions, complaints or requests that relate to state government and state government services. Our office acts as a facilitator to help resolve problems between state agencies and constituents in an effective and professional manner. Often, complaints will be resolved by referring constituents to the appropriate federal, state or local government entity. Resolution may also be accomplished by providing information that will allow the constituent to find the resources he or she needs to handle their particular matter.

I believe a District Attorney’s decision to prosecute or a judge’s ruling to be unfair. What can you do to help?

Per the Oklahoma Constitution, the Lieutenant Governor has no jurisdiction in judicial matters. The separation of governmental powers prevents the Lt. Governor from overruling or interfering with the decision of an appointed judge. Other options include contacting the Attorney General, the Bar Association, and/or Legal Aid.

Can you assist with problems with local (city/town) or federal government?

Questions or concerns relating to local government should be directed to your local government officials. Issues regarding a federal agency or federal legislation should be directed to a representative of the federal government, including U. S. Senators and Representatives. The official U. Will my information be kept confidential?

The Lieutenant Governor’s Office of Constituent Services will attempt to keep the information provided by constituents confidential to the extent possible. However, our office cannot guarantee confidentiality. By providing information, constituents understand and agree that the Office of the Lieutenant Governor is granted the legal right to use and distribute the information in the manner it sees fit in order to adequately address the constituents’ complaint, question or request.

I would like to request a commendation, citation or recommendation. How long will it take?

Please provide at least four (4) weeks’ advance notice prior to the date desired. We make every effort to honor each request, but we cannot guarantee that you will receive the item requested by the desired date if this guideline is not met.
