The Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security (OKOHS) provides tailored training and exercises for Oklahoma responders to enhance the capacity of the state and local jurisdictions to prevent, protect, respond and recover safely and effectively to incidents of terrorism involving weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and all hazard events. Specifically, OKOHS training is designed to meet the varying needs of Oklahoma first responders. This includes reaching multiple disciplines, through training at the awareness, performance and planning/management levels, and employing the most appropriate mediums and vehicles for the particular audience which include:
OKOHS uses the local training providers, such as Oklahoma State University Fire Service Training (OSU FST), and some out-of-state providers to deliver training. OKOHS also uses the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Grant Programs (OGP) and its coalition of partners for specialized courses in direct deliveries in Oklahoma and in resident programs, both with not cost to responders. In addition, OKOHS has developed several state courses that endured a rigorous validation process before delivery and continuous assessment once training deliveries are initiated.
All training courses and other events are listed in the frequently updated Training Calendar link located in the left navigation of each page. You can view all scheduled training and events and register for courses using this calendar. Once you have an account through this web site, signing up for training courses will be simple, easy and one mouse-click away. Oklahoma Regional Response System Training is provided by OKOHS to all team members participating in the Regional Response System. Training courses have been specifically developed and approved by DHS G&T for the Regional Response System. All courses are delivered at no cost and scheduled to meet the needs of the response agencies.
The NDPC includes OGP's Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) in Anniston, AL; the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMIMT); Louisiana State University (LSU); Texas A&M University (TEEX); and the Department of Energy's Nevada Test Site (NTS). Each member brings a unique set of assets to the domestic preparedness program. OKOHS is looking for students and in-state host sites for this great opportunity to receive some of the best training available. Most courses are available as a direct delivery where instructors travel to Oklahoma and conduct courses. Resident delivery courses are also an option which involves the student traveling to the training site. With either delivery method, there is no cost for the instruction of the courses. See the Consortium Training page for more details.

National Incident Management System (NIMS) Program
CEDAP Grant Program The Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP) has released the grant application and the approved equipment for FY 08. CEDAP is sponsored by the National Preparedness Directorate, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and Department of Homeland Security (DHS). It complements other major grant programs by providing technology and equipment, together with training and technical assistance required to operate that equipment, to public safety agencies in smaller jurisdictions and certain metropolitan areas. Applications may be submitted via the Responder Knowledge Base (http://www.rkb.us). Links are available on the Responder Knowledge Base home page for general program information as well as initiation of applications. A sample application in PDF format is also available. However, actual applications must be submitted on line. Applications will be accepted until 1700EDT on Monday, June 30th. Questions regarding the CEDAP program should be referred to the Centralized Scheduling & Information Desk (CSID) at 800-368-6498. CEDAP Helpful Hints Question 22: When describing the daily use of the equipment, be sure to include how it would assist in a possible Terrorism incident. Make sure to mention critical infrastructure/key assets previously mentioned in the application, which could be crippled by a terrorist incident. Don’t forget that for each city or town, all agencies or departments can apply for the CEDAP Grant. Please utilize this grant opportunity so that we can put valuable equipment into our state’s responders’ hands.
