Brad Henry has proclaimed Tuesday, November 10 as Winter Weather Preparedness Day. more Ready Oklahoma and Radio Disney Rock the Tulsa Zoo for National Preparedness Month Ready Oklahoma and Radio Disney are giving Tulsa families the opportunity to “rock out” while getting prepared for emergencies this Saturday, Sept. 19th, at the Zoo’s Annual Enrichment Day. The event is in support of National Preparedness Month; part of the Ready Oklahoma campaign to encourage emergency preparedness sponsored by the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security (OKOHS). This is the second year that OKOHS has teamed up with Tulsa’s own Radio Disney to promote family preparedness planning in the state. more

U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Declares Public Health Emergency for Swine Flu The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a nationwide public health emergency declaration Sunday in response to recent human infections with a newly discovered swine influenza A (swine flu) virus. The declaration will help HHS prepare for prevention and mitigation activities by enabling Food and Drug Administration (FDA) emergency use authorizations of drugs, devices, or medical tests under certain circumstances. more
The Department of Homeland Security has posted the FY2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) Program Guidance on the AFG Website. The application period is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).
