HOMELAND SECURITY RESPONSE UNITS DELIVERED TO LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security (OKOHS) and Governor Brad Henry announced today the delivery of five Regional Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Response Units to the communities of Claremore, Lawton, Moore/Norman, Oklahoma City and Tulsa.  These units are the largest component of the multi-tiered Oklahoma regional Response System, a project that OKOHS has obligated more than $16 million toward.

"The Regional Response System was designed to provide every Oklahoman a level of security and peace of mind," said Oklahoma Homeland Security Director, Kerry Pettingill. "The Large HazMat units are strategically placed along the Interstate 44 corridor in order to allow for a quick response statewide. And, although it is designed as a HazMat response unit, it has the capability to respond to any disaster ¿ whether natural or manmade."  more

DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY ANNOUNCES THE APPLICATION PERIOD FOR FY 2006 ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT (AFG)

Beginning March 6, 2006, at 8:00 a.m. eastern standard time, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will begin accepting applications for Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG). The deadline for receipt of the AFG "fire grant" applications is 5:00 p.m. eastern daylight time on April 7, 2006.  more

LESS THAN 10 DAYS REMAIN BEFORE THE ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT PERIOD CLOSES

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program office is reminding fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical organizations that less than ten days now remain in the FY 2006 fire grant application period.  The application period for AFG began March 6, 2006 at 8 a.m. Eastern Standard Time and ends at 5 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on April 7, 2006.  If you have started an application, please be sure to COMPLETE IT AND SUBMIT IT before the deadline.  All applications must be submitting (hit the submit button in the online application) to be considered for a grant award.  Once an application is submitted electroncially, an automatic notification via email is sent that we have received it.  more

ATTENTION CEDAP PHASE II APPLICANTS:

Review of the Phase 2 applications should be completed shortly.  Final results will be forwarded to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and notifications will begin within the next 30 to 45 days.  more
