MITRETEK INNOVATIONS AWARD IN HOMELAND SECURITY
The Mitretek Innovations Award in Homeland Security, now in its third year, represents an important collaboration between Mitretek Systems, a nonprofit scientific research and engineering corporation that operates in the public interest and the Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation, sponsor of the Innovations in American Government Awards. Through the Mitretek Innovations Award in Homeland Security, we seek to identify and highlight creative and effective government solutions - and leaders behind them - to the nation's homeland security concerns. This award reflects a conviction held by leaders at both Mitretek and the Ash Institute that the "front lines" in security are in local communities around the country and consequently the best practices, or programs that most effectively address homeland security concerns are emerging from practitioners in the field today. If you represent an innovative government-sponsored program in the field of homeland security, we encourage you to apply for the Mitretek Innovations Award in Homeland Security.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria:
All units of government within the United States addressing issues of homeland security are eligible for the award under the following guidelines: Programs must be administered under the authority of, and receive at least half their funding from one or more governmental entities; programs must have been implemented prior to September 12, 2005; programs in which government partners with the not-for-profit or private sector are eligible as long as they meet with the above guidelines.
The deadline for submissions is September 12, 2006. Applications are available online at www.homelandsecurityinnovations.org.
