FEMA, VOLUNTARY AGENCIES ANNOUNCE CASE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM TO ASSIST DISASTER SURVIVORS WITH LONG-TERM RECOVERY

Washington, DC - The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced a $66 million case management grant, using donations from the international community, to be awarded to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD) to assist Hurricane Katrina survivors with comprehensive long-term recovery needs.  more

DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY RECEIVES $2.4 BILLION INCREASE FOR 2006 APPROPRIATIONS

In addition to certain organizational adjustments, the Department¿s FY 2006 Appropriations provides increased funding for 1,000 new Border Patrol Agents, greater explosive detection technology across transportation networks, and an integrated Preparedness Directorate to enhance coordination and deployment of preparedness assets and training.  more
