GOVERNOR SIGNS BILL CREATING HOMELAND SECURITY OFFICE

Oklahoma?s Office of Homeland Security became official today as Governor Brad Henry signed House Bill 2280. The bill by Rep. Bill Paulk and Sen. Dick Wilkerson created the office which has been operating as a division within the Department of Public Safety for the past year and a half with authority from an executive order by the Governor.  more

 

DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY ANNOUNCES MAJOR EXPANSION OF MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PARTNERSHIP

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge today announced that 52 Minor League Baseball teams in communities all across America -- more than double the number that participated last year -- have committed to featuring Ready public service announcements in their ballparks this spring and summer.  The partnership is just one of many strategic relationships secured by DHS and the Ad Council to disseminate messages and materials that will help Americans to prepare for potential terrorist attacks and other emergencies.  more

Launched on February 19, 2003, the "Ready" Campaign is a national public service advertising campaign designed to educate and empower American citizens to prepare for and respond to potential terrorist attacks and other emergencies.  The Ad Council declared it one of the most successful campaign launches in its 62-year history.  more

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism (MIPT) in Oklahoma City, and DFI International launched the Web-based homeland security lessons learned and best practices information-sharing network on April 19, 2004. The portal is an important part of the national homeland security strategy to assist state and local homeland security responders and planners to improve preparation, prevention, response, and recovery efforts for acts of terrorism.  more

 

GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES $32 MILLION IN FEDERAL FUNDS AWARDED TO OKLAHOMA HOMELAND SECURITY EFFORTS

Oklahoma City --- Today Governor Brad Henry announced the awarding of additional federal funds for homeland security efforts in Oklahoma. More than $32 million in funds will go to Oklahoma for homeland security initiatives.  more

 

GOVERNOR HELPS LAUNCH MCREADY CAMPAIGN

Oklahoma City - Governor Brad Henry today announced the kickoff of a statewide severe weather preparedness campaign. Called McReady Oklahoma, the campaign is a public-private partnership designed to prepare families for emergencies, to increase awareness of severe weather threats and to build prepared communities.  more
