 Licensure is the process by which an agency or state government grants permission to an individual to practice in a particular
profession, vocation, or occupation. Licensure protects the general public by ensuring that only those individuals who are competent
to practice safely are licensed. The state regulatory agency is responsible for establishing the acceptable level of safe practice.
