Final Tally -- Winter Storm Injury Statistics

The final tally for winter storm-related injuries reported at hospitals throughout Oklahoma the past week is 1,065 injuries, the Oklahoma State Department of Health announced today. Of that number, 750 injuries were attributed to falls. 

Four fatalities were reported with three of the four fatalities from a motor vehicle accident and one fatality resulting from a head injury.

For Saturday alone, 263 injuries were reported with 193 of those recorded as falls.

A summary of all winter storm-related injuries for the past week follows:

Falls: 750
Transportation Related: 160
Cuts/Piercings: 94
Struck by/Against: 35
Poisonings: 22
Exposure: 4

Total: 1,065
