Is your child safe from exposure to lead in your home? Children with high blood lead levels can suffer from damage to their brain or nervous system. To protect your child from lead poisoning, ask your doctor if your child needs to be tested for lead. If you plan to buy or rent a home built before 1978, have it checked for lead-based paint. To learn how to keep your child lead-free, call your County Health Department or the Oklahoma Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program at 1-800-766-2223.
