The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) will conduct a public hearing on a variety of proposed rule changes and amendments on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 1102 of the OSDH at 1000 Northeast Tenth St. in Oklahoma City.

Public health officials will receive comments on proposed rule changes and amendments including but not limited to the following: requirements for professional counselors and therapists, residential care homes, assisted living centers, hospitals, nursing facilities, ambulatory surgical centers, tattoo artists, immunizations and childhood lead screening.

The rule changes are recommended to become effective in July 2010.

Proposed Amendments to State Board of Health Rules
Recently Adopted Amendments to State Board of Health Rules

Comments will be reviewed by State Board of Health members prior to their regular public meeting scheduled for March 9, 2010, where the Board will vote on whether or not to adopt the rules. This new hearing process allows the State Board of Health more time to absorb and incorporate public comment into the proposed rule prior to voting.

“We want to ensure that people affected by proposed rules have the chance to provide meaningful input, and this process will allow adequate time for responsible review of that input,” said State Commissioner of Health Dr. Terry Cline.
