Board of Health Member Resigns
The Oklahoma State Board of Health announced the resignation of Board of Health member Haskell L. Evans, Jr., R.Ph today. The resignation is effective immediately.
“I have enjoyed my service as a member of the Oklahoma State Board of Health addressing the many health issues confronting Oklahomans. I am making a decision to resign at this time so the State Department of Health can continue its challenging work of addressing these public health needs in Oklahoma, and to do so free of unnecessary distraction. I wish the State Department of Health well in its efforts to address the health challenges facing Oklahoma and I wish them continued success in their efforts to make this a healthier state,” said Haskell Evans, Jr., R.Ph.
Evans was appointed to the Board of Health in 1997 and served until 2006 when he was reappointed to a term ending in 2015. During his tenure, he served as president, vice president, and secretary/treasurer. Evans is Chief Executive Officer of RPH 3 Inc, a pharmacy in Lawton and has served as Oklahoma Pharmaceutical Association (District 6) president, vice president and secretary.
Oklahoma State Board of Health President Barry L. Smith said, "Mr. Evans has made a selfless sacrifice through his voluntary service to the state of Oklahoma as a State Board of Health Board member for over a decade, and this decision is consistent with that sacrifice. We appreciate his contributions to the state and wish him well. The Board and the Department must focus, without any distraction, on turning around Oklahoma’s dismal health outcomes.”
