Background: GetFit EatSmart: The Oklahoma Physical Activity and Nutrition State Plan represents the input of hundreds of individuals and more than 60 organizations across the state. This effort provided the expertise necessary to develop a comprehensive framework that all organizations and citizens can use as a guide to improving health through improved nutrition and increased physical activity for present and future generations. The plan outlines a statewide effort to prevent and reduce obesity and other chronic diseases by promoting healthy eating and physical activity. According to reports issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Oklahoma’s obesity rate for adults is the 8th highest in the nation, and for high school students it is tied for 6th highest in the nation.
