Nursing: A Profession and a Passion, Celebrate National Nurses Week May 6-12
The _____ County Health Department and the American Nurses Association are celebrating National Nurses Week, May 6-12. The theme this year is Nursing: A Profession and a Passion.
National Nurses Week is devoted to highlighting the diverse ways in which registered nurses are working to improve health care. From bedside nursing in hospitals and long-term care facilities to research institutions, public health departments, state legislatures, and Congress, the nursing profession is helping to meet the expanding health care needs of society.
Oklahoma Commissioner of Health Dr. Michael Crutcher, along with Diana Pistole, MPH, RN, chief of Nursing Service at the Oklahoma State Department of Health, and _____ County Health Department Administrative Director _____are proud to recognize the more than 600 public health nurses in Oklahoma.
“We are pleased to recognize our nurses for their passion, dedication, commitment, and tireless effort through providing health care services for seven days a week, 365 days a year, to the citizens of Oklahoma. We also want to take this opportunity to encourage other men and women to train to be nurses in the field of public health,” said Crutcher.
In addition, the _____ County Health Department wishes to recognize the valuable services that nurses provide to protect the public’s health, safety and welfare in _____ County.
“Some of the services provided by public health nurses at the _____ County Health Department include child and adult immunizations, preventive health screenings, monitoring and control of communicable diseases and chronic health concerns, services that assure healthier mothers and babies, child abuse prevention, school health education, bioterrorism preparedness, and _____,” said _____.
