Background: Many diseases -- including heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and stroke -- can be prevented by following a healthy lifestyle, but it is often difficult in today's fast-paced world for people to make the right health choices. Overscheduled and overstressed, we develop bad habits, neglect exercise and opt for the convenience of fast food over healthier selections. Yet the road to better health is really quite simple: Eat Better, Move More, and Be Tobacco Free.
To help Oklahomans overcome the barriers to improving their health, Gov. Brad Henry’s Strong and Healthy Oklahoma initiative is connecting programs and partnerships throughout Oklahoma to provide access to health resources where we live, work and learn.
