FOR RELEASE: March 9 , 2006 Take Charge! Program The Beckham County Health Department, located at 400 E. Third Street, Elk City, is having a Take Charge! clinic on Friday, March 24. Women who qualify for the Take Charge! Program will receive no cost clinical breast exams, Pap smears, and a coupon for a mammogram. The clinic will be held on March 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. To schedule your appointment at the clinic, call 800-955-6968. In order to qualify for services, a woman must meet the following guidelines:
In addition to the clinic on March 24, other Take Charge! clinics are scheduled at this location from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the fourth Friday of each month. This program is offered through a partnership between the OU College of Nursing, Beckham County Health Department, and the Take Charge! Program, Chronic Disease Service, Oklahoma State Department of Health. Early screening to detect and treat breast cancer is important in the fight against breast cancer and can save lives.
