Media Invited to Roundtable Discussion on Bioterrorism

What:	Media Roundtable Discussion on Bioterrorism Preparedness

Featuring:	Dr. Paul Dungan, director of the Oklahoma City-County Health Department; Dr. Mike Crutcher, Commissioner of Health; and other terrorism preparedness staff from the Oklahoma City-County Health Department and Oklahoma State Department of Health
Background:	This media roundtable will provide important information to Oklahoma City metropolitan media regarding efforts to assure bioterrorism preparedness for Oklahomans. As the 10th anniversary of the Murrah bombing approaches, we all recognize that Oklahomans are not immune to acts of terrorism, whether domestic or foreign.

The use of biological weapons during a terrorist attack can present a unique set of difficulties and challenges for reporters, editors and producers as they struggle during a rapidly unfolding event to present the facts clearly, objectively and dispassionately.

During the roundtable discussion, you’ll learn about an upcoming bioterrorism exercise July 12-14 that will employ the use of the Strategic National Stockpile, and you’ll have an opportunity to ask public health experts those questions you’ll undoubtedly have in a real emergency.
