Area Nutritionist Wins Award

Dawn Kukuk, a WIC Nutritionist in Payne, Noble and Kay counties, has won the fourth annual Laura K. Savage Creativity in Nutrition Education Award. Kukuk received the honor during the recent Oklahoma State Department of Health’s (OSDH) Women, Infants and Children (WIC) State Conference attended by over 500 WIC personnel.
Kukuk’s creative nutrition submission won the award in a competition of entries from across the state. Her entry is called “Healthy Teeth, Happy Teeth, Eat a Healthy Diet.” OSDH State WIC Director Tom Freeman presented the award.

The award is named in memory of Laura K. Savage, a Nutrition Education Coordinator who died while employed with OSDH WIC. The creative spirit of Ms. Savage was evident in the nutrition education ideas presented at the conference.

In addition to winning the award, Kukuk will travel to the National WIC Association’s Annual Conference in St. Louis, Mo., in May to display her winning entry nationwide.
