FOR RELEASE: September 29, 2003 Media Advisory What: Walk This Weigh Oklahoma health promotion kick off for Oklahoma County and statewide health campaign to walk to improve health. Date/Time: Thursday, Oct. 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk for Health Day Location: Employees from several state agencies in the state capitol complex will make their way to the south steps of the state capitol building. One walking route will be initiated at 11:30 a.m., at the east end of Stanton L. Young Boulevard at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, head west to Lincoln Boulevard, and then turn north toward the south steps of the state capitol, picking up additional walkers along the way. Featuring: Oklahoma State Health Commissioner Dr. Leslie Beitsch and other state leaders will lead the Walk for Health to the State Capitol to seek support to improve Oklahoma’s health status. Speakers will address the walkers at about 12:15 p.m. Background: The message is simple. Walk This Weigh Oklahoma encourages Oklahomans to walk at least 30 minutes a day, three times a week, reduce fat intake by one to three percent, and enjoy a healthier life.
