Flu Shot Clinics Open for Business
The _____ County Health Department announced today that it will be conducting flu clinics beginning this month at various locations. _________ County has received one-half of its normal shipment of flu vaccine for this flu season and supplies should be sufficient to address the needs statewide.
"We do not anticipate any shortages or delays this year like we had in the previous two years due to manufacturing problems. Vaccine supplies are sufficient to meet the needs of the population wanting vaccinations," said (name/title). " We want to encourage those persons at high risk of getting the flu to come in early before the rush," ________ said.
Persons at high risk for flu complications include people over age 65, persons with chronic illnesses such as diabetes or asthma, pregnant women, and health care workers who provide care to at-risk patients.
_____ said flu clinics are scheduled at the _____ County Health Department for:
"Thus far this flu season, influenza activity is not yet circulating in the state," _____ said. "Healthy adults are also encouraged to get a flu shot in November or December, before the flu season arrives. It is expected to peak in January or February."
_________________ said health officials also recommend that persons 65 and older and those with chronic health conditions get a pneumococcal vaccination to reduce the risk of pneumonia resulting from influenza or other respiratory illnesses. This vaccine is available at physicians' offices and the ____ County Health Department.
