Health Department Ensures Health and Safety of Cottonwood Manor Residents

The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) announced this afternoon that it has been unable to find an acceptable temporary manager to provide the oversight necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of the residents of Cottonwood Manor in Yukon. The OSDH has notified the facility of its intent to close the home in the next 30 days. A temporary manager was needed to help relocate the residents of the facility as well as close the facility.

Propps Living Center, the licensed operator for Cottonwood Manor, filed for bankruptcy July 6. State health officials say they will file for relief from the court's automatic stay imposed by the bankruptcy filing in order to take steps necessary to protect the welfare of the Cottonwood Manor residents.

Legal counsel for the OSDH released this statement: “Since we received no acceptable proposals for a temporary manager for Cottonwood Manor, the state health department will conduct daily monitoring and is taking all necessary actions needed to assure that the health, safety and welfare of the residents of Cottonwood Manor are protected.”
