Bioterrorism and Anthrax Issues
Bioterrorism and Anthrax Daily Update 11/8/01:
- As of 1 p.m. today, the Public Health Laboratory of the Oklahoma State Department of Health had performed testing on 572 environmental samples for the presence of anthrax or biologic agents. All have tested negative for biologic contamination.
- The OKC Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS) has co-located their pharmaceutical stockpile at the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH). A secure, limited access storage area has been established at the OSDH. Access to this area is available 24/7 for the MMRS coordinator or designee(s) and key OSDH staff. On-hand antibiotic supplies have increased from the ability to treat 5,000 individuals for one week, to the ability to treat approximately 16,400 individuals for one week.
- The Oklahoma State Department of Health receives daily updates from the CDC and other government agencies regarding current issues in anthrax and other bioterrorism concerns.
