Youth-Led Movement to Launch Offensive Against Big Tobacco News Conference Scheduled

On Saturday, May 6, nearly 60 youth from across the state will gather at the State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City to tell Big Tobacco they are tired of being the focus of the tobacco industry. These students are part of SWAT – Students Working Against Tobacco. SWAT is a youth-led movement designed to resist manipulation by the tobacco industry while changing attitudes about tobacco.

SWAT team members will host a news conference at 1 p.m. in Livestock Barn #3 (Red Barn) at the State Fairgrounds where they will detail their plans to expose the truth about the tobacco industry one lie at a time. Visual opportunities will include real Oklahoma cowboys and cowgirls who will be in the livestock arena demonstrating their skills. SWAT team members will be in SWAT T-shirts, with signs, banners and posters that declare "Oklahoma is NOT Marlboro Country."
