FOR RELEASE: May 25, 2000 Media Advisory What: Kick-Off for the "Brittany Project," a statewide life jacket loaner program Who: Sponsors are the Oklahoma SAFE KIDS Coalition, Oklahoma Department of Tourism, Family & Friends of Dona Glenn, and the Oklahoma City Boat Dealers Association When: Friday, May 26, 2 p.m. Where: Little Sandy beach, Lake Thunderbird (From Oklahoma City, go east on I-40, exit at Choctaw Road and go south about nine miles. At the dead-end, Alameda, turn left and go about one mile. Go to the next dead-end and turn left again, then take the second right. Look for Little Sandy sign, veering to the right.) Why: To ensure a safe summer for Oklahoma children by preventing drownings, the second-leading cause of fatal accidents. On site: Martha Collar, Oklahoma Safe Kids Coalition, 271-5695 Those available for interviews will include Dona Glenn, mother of Brittany Mobley, for whom the Brittany Project is named. Brittany drowned at Lake Thunderbird four years ago this Memorial Day weekend, and this program will be dedicated to her memory. ### |
