During a state declared environmental, health or medical disaster, the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) has been identified as the primary coordinating agency under theOklahoma State Emergency Operations Plan. During other declared disasters, OSDH is responsible for ensuring coordination of the public health and medical needs of the affected jurisdiction(s). In addition, OSDH is the agency responsible for administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) grant in the State of Oklahoma. Hospitals and medical systems are recognized as integral players in responding to public health and medical disasters. Because of this, OSDH works closely with these partners statewide to ensure an effective response. Efforts have been put in place to provide training, resources and guidance to increase the overall preparedness of our state.
