Public Health Response Team Newsletter The Public Health Response Team Newsletter (PHRT) was developed to provide a monthly update of Homeland Security Public Health sponsored training, on-going meetings and collaboration among our partners from across the State of Oklahoma. It encapsulates meetings, training, incidents and events that occur within each of these regions by our regional teams. It includes monthly updates on Incident Command, state-wide training, special articles on functional needs populations and a list of contacts for the Emergency Preparedness and Response Service. It is critical that each of the Emergency Support Functions (ESF) across our state understand the role of Public Health during a disaster. This newsletter allows them to have a better understanding of that role (ESF8 Health and Medical) so when a incident occurs we can better respond to the community’s needs. At the national level, Federal Emergency Management Agency and Health and Human Services have broken the United States into Regions. Oklahoma is part of FEMA/HHS Region VI known as TALON (Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and New Mexico.) This newsletter provides a "report" to those other states, as well as the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and HHS, informing them of our partnerships, accomplishments, process and responses during the month. For any questions concerning the PHRT Newsletter please call 405.271.0900 or Click Here to send an email.
